Who They Are Looking For

Our client is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant to support a practice that services clients on a range of bankruptcy matters. This is a great opportunity for someone that enjoys taking an active role with managing of files. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare correspondence, faxes, documents, etc. using Digital Dictaphone, precedents, email instructions, copy typing and handwritten notes: using application software (Word & Outlook)
  • Prepare Notices of Civil Claim and response to Civil Claim
  • Drafting of Pleadings and Affidavits
  • Perform legal research on legislation using CanLII and West Law
  • Meeting with clients and gathering necessary information for Chamber Applications
  • Open files and maintain filing system
  • Maintain bring forward system to ensure follow up and receipt of requested materials/documents
  • Prepare invoices to clients (using Acumin accounting software)
  • Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • Graduate of Legal Administrative Assistant Program
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant in Bankruptcy and Insolvency
  • Some experience in corporate and commercial law is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Excellent English oral and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to draft standard correspondence with minimum supervision
  • Exceptional attention to detail and drafting skills
  • Able to communicate with clients, lawyers and staff
  • Familiar with billing/invoicing processes in a legal environment
