Our client is a mid-sized law firm in downtown Vancouver. They are vested in supporting their employees in maintaining a work life balance and as such, their employees have access to gym facilities and an Employee Assistance Program as part of their benefits package.

They are currently looking for a progressive intermediate level Legal Administrative Assistant to work with a senior and a midlevel lawyer in our Business Law Department who are striving to achieve a paperless office.  The perfect candidate will be a team oriented person who is organized, enjoys and is willing to take the initiative and learn new skills, enjoys a variety of different tasks, is committed to offering excellent services to our lawyers and clients and who has a passion for his or her work.  Someone collegial and who has a good sense of humour would be a great fit for their team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • preparation of documents for clients in the acquisition and development of all manner of business organizations and in corporate and commercial transactions
  • Conducting due diligence including BC Online searches (corporate/PPSA/title searches, etc.)
  • liaising with clients, accountants and lenders
  • organizing client files, keeping track of outstanding tasks and setting up reminders
  • assisting with collections, billings and accounts
  • reviewing, tracking and electronic correspondence filing
  • sorting incoming mail and preparation of outgoing mail
  • file openings and closings
  • miscellaneous corporate tasks
  • scanning, photocopying , faxing and performing other related duties as required

Position Requirements:

  • Some business law experience and a graduate of a Legal Admin Assistant program or equivalent.  Consideration will be given to persons with varied educational or work experiential backgrounds who have shown initiative and achievement in their previous endeavours
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Basic BC Online/LTO knowledge preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills and willingness to acquire software skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel preferred
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime
