Legal Administrative Assistant – Litigation (Surrey)

We are assisting our debt collection law firm client recruit an intermediate level legal administrative assistant to join their team.  Our client carries a large volume of active matters all of which need to be dealt with in a prompt and timely fashion.  They are professional, courteous and friendly and although they expect their staff to work hard they rarely require staff to work on weekends or evenings. The vacant position focuses on foreclosure proceedings and a practice related to unsecured debt litigation.

The successful candidate will assist a senior Paralegal in all matters relating to Supreme Court chambers work. This includes preparation of notices of application, orders, affidavits in support, application records, application responses, electronic filing statements, notices of discontinuance and acknowledgements of payment. In addition dates will need to be arranged with opposing counsel and lay litigants. Pleadings will need to be served or delivered. As well certificates of judgment and certificates of litigation will need to be filed at the Land Title Office. There will be some work relating to garnishing orders before and after judgment. Also, some work relating to writs of execution, subpoena to debtor and examination in aid of execution.

-        High school diploma

-        A legal administrative certificate from a recognized institution (or equivalent experience)

-        A minimum of 3 years of experience in litigation

-        Specific collections/debt recovery experience will be considered an asset
