They are currently recruiting a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant to join their national Legal Support Services and Document Specialist teams providing Legal Assistant overflow support to their Vancouver office, as well as document processing support for all offices across Canada.

Our client is looking for a candidate who enjoys a fast paced environment and has good basic skills in Word 2007 or higher, strong attention to detail, and excellent client service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to broaden their skills set. In support of this position, McMillan has developed an extensive training program that will prepare candidates for the position and expand knowledge and skills.

The main responsibilities and duties of this position will include but are not limited to the following:

•    Provide coverage for Legal Assistant vacations and absences as assigned by the Supervisor, including drafting correspondence, filing, office and file organization, entering dockets and preparation of accounts, coordinating and scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars and bring forward systems, and other duties as required.

 •    Provide document processing support, including creating documents through transcription, copy‐typing, and mail‐merge; making document revisions; converting electronic files from one format to another; formatting documents; working with styles, bookmarks, cross‐ referencing, and tables, applying proofreading and editing skills to documents and correspondence.

•    Provide document‐related troubleshooting support and problem resolution; promote firm standards wherever possible.

•    Participate in new technology and department initiatives; continuously strive to expand knowledge and learn new skills.

 Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
  • Experience working in a legal environment an asset
  • Detail-oriented individual who meets deadlines
  • Strong administrative, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical skills including Advanced Microsoft Office 2007 (or later) skills
