We are assisting our client a Vancouver based Research Firm recruit a Litigation Services Manager.

Position Summary

The Litigation Services Manager is responsible to apply the principles of service excellence in the management of the company’s Litigation Research Management and Support Services portfolios.  The role focuses on promoting litigation project management best practices and ensuring that these practices are implemented in their portfolio service streams. This position is also responsible to ensure program and service alignment with corporate strategic direction.

This role will lead the Research and Litigation Support teams in the planning and execution of projects and portfolio/account management.  This position is a critical contact point for clients, and, as such, is responsible for maintaining the company’s brand identity and creating opportunities for growth.

The role works closely with the management team and executives to ensure company strategy is executed within their portfolios.

  • Ability to provide leadership and manage senior relationships across business and functional areas
  • Ability to manage internal and external stakeholder objectives and relationships throughout the life cycle of a case/project
  • Ability to implement project/case management structures and systems in a litigation environment
  • Creative and management ability in service development and providing recommendations to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of a portfolio
  • Ability to reason and analyze data to recognize business needs  

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Litigation Research and Support Services Portfolio
    • Actively engage in Litigation Research and Support portfolio and service development
    • Liaise with client representatives and technical/contracting authorities on existing and potential new projects
    • Identify and drive closure on Litigation Research and Support business development opportunities
    • Bid support
  • Program/Project Management
    • Overall program management of assigned projects
    • Implementing and maintaining litigation project management best practices
    • Sr. project management oversight and project management responsibilities for select projects
      • Accountable party for defining, planning, orchestrating, and delivering assigned projects, including all business, operational and IT deliverables 
  • Client relationship management
    • Reports to the CEO
    • Provision of accurate and timely program performance reporting to the CEO, CFO, Business Services, project sponsors and relevant stakeholders as required
      • Other duties:
    • Providing strong leadership and management to Research Management staff
    • Building team effectiveness through ongoing communication and decision making
    • Providing team members with tools to ensure ongoing development of technical skills

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or professional certification in relevant area
  • Minimum of five years providing a full range of litigation support services
  • Minimum of five years in a management leadership role
  • Experience using and managing litigation support - e-discovery software, such as: Ringtail, Summation, Concordance, LAW, etc.
  • Asset qualifications
  • Formal project management training (PMP, Prince2, etc) or equivalent experience.
  • Formal data management designation (CEDS and/or CDMP)
  • Experience working with qualitative and quantitate data best practices and software tools
  • Experience with projects involving data management using enterprise systems including CIDM, RDIMS, GCDocs (Open Text), etc
  • Awareness of information governance best practices
  • Private sector experience working with government clients on projects over $500,000
  • Understanding of historical/archival/legal research industry
  • Expertise in Indigenous law/issues
