Legal Administrative Assistant – Litigation, Labour & Employment

We are assisting a local Vancouver firm in recruiting a Legal Administrative Assistant to fill a maternity leave (through to May 2018) working with a partner, senior associate & a junior associate in the areas of general civil litigation, administrative law, constitutional law as well as labour and employment. This position will be mentored as the team already has a senior legal administrative assistant assigned to it.  It is therefore an ideal position for an eager junior candidate looking to join a dynamic team environment.  Although this is a maternity leave assignment there is the reassurance that there will be a permanent position after the person returns from maternity leave.  This firm is located in downtown Vancouver.


Manage all aspects of files including but not limited to:

  • Providing clear, concise and complete oral and written information
  • Drafting correspondence and legal documents
  • Time entry and client billings
  • Maintaining all administrative functions, including file opening/closing procedures, maintaining the calendar, booking appointments and managing bring forwards
  • Performing complex editing and formatting of documents for various correspondence, reports, forms and spreadsheets
  • Assist lawyers in performing all regular administrative tasks
  • Managing a high volume of paper correspondence
  • Performing other related duties as required


  • Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited program
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working as a legal administrative assistant
  • Superior organizational/document management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional aptitude for software and systems
  • A thorough understanding of litigation law legal procedures. Experience in other areas of law will be a great asset
  • Knowledge of database management, particularly Worldox
  • Computer knowledge including: MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Internet, Summation, Adobe and PCLaw
