Our mid-sized law firm client specializing in litigation is seeking a legal administrative assistant floater. This is the perfect position for someone looking to gain a wide variety of litigation experience. This role provides overflow assistance and coverage for Legal Admin Assistants who are away from the office on holidays or sick. Duration of assignment to overflow tasks and/or coverage varies. We are looking for a team player who is proactive, able to handle a busy workload, and who has a keen eye for detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft standard letters and pleadings
  • Book court dates, discoveries, experts etc. and prepare required documentation
  • Interact with clients by phone and in person
  • Manage lawyers’ calendars
  • Typing dictations
  • Filing
  • Opening and closing files
  • Assembling records for meetings and court
  • Maintain filing system including a bring forward system
  • Sort incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail
  • Perform other related duties as required

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of Legal Administrative Assistant program
  • Minimum 2 years of litigation experience
  • Excellent English oral and written skills
  • Professional manner in communication with clients
  • Strong admin, organizing and formatting skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Not afraid to ask lawyers for extra clarification or explanation when they are unsure about what to do
